My Surgeries

My surgeries are a chance for you to meet with me and discuss the issues that matter to you. I try to hold a surgery most weeks and I regularly move the venue to allow access regardless of where you live in the constituency. If you have trouble accessing any of my surgeries I am more than happy to come and visit you at home. Just call the Office and we will be happy to make any arrangements as required. Below is a list of my surgeries over the next few months:

To find directions to the venue of your surgery, please enter your home address and postcode and that of your surgery into a directions website, such as http://maps.google.co.uk

What support can I offer as your MP?

I take my duty as your local representative very seriously and there are a number of ways that I can offer support to you as my constituents.

I can provide confidential and private support to you in relation to any central government function. This includes:

•·     Tax problems involving the HM Revenue and Customs Department.

•·     Problems dealt with by the Department for Work and Pensions such as benefits, pensions and National Insurance.

•·     Problems dealt with by the Home Office, such as immigration.

•·     Problems dealt with by the Department of Health, such as hospitals and the National Health Service (NHS).

•·     Problems dealt with by the Department for Education, such as school closures and grants.

I can carry this out by contacting relevant officials, writing to relevant ministers and?accessing information and support as required. However, I am not able to intervene on personal planning matters, family or neighbourhood disputes or decisions made by courts.

Another significant element of my role is to work strategically with local organisations, businesses and charities to help the Stroud Constituency grow and develop. This can be anything from meeting organisations to co-ordinating action across the constituency. My role is about empowering you, as my constituents, to build up the communities in which you live and to support you as you work on the matters that matter to you.

I am also able to represent you in Westminster by speaking in debates, asking questions in the House and organising debates. If you have issues or questions you would like to raise please do contact me and I will be able to ensure that you views are heard.

Finally, I am able to submit your case to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (http://www.ombudsman.org.uk/) who are able to look into concerns relating to maladministration and misconduct within government.
