Christians against Poverty success story

Christians against Poverty success story

29 July 2011 at 09:00

Neil Carmichael has today met with members of Stroud Christian Fellowship to discuss their response to needs within the community and how they are supporting the most vulnerable.

Most recently this has been through the development of a local branch of Christians Against Poverty, a national charity that provide debt counselling and support for people in financial difficulty. Indeed, since November they have supported over 30 people and have recently had their first client go debt free after CAP's support and intervention.

Neil said;

"This is one of hundreds of expressions of community action, from looking out for a neighbour all the way to working with individuals in financial hardship, which make up the fabric of our communities. Much of this has been going on for years but I believe that we should spend more time celebrating and supporting such work- that is what this Government believes in."

The work is supported by voluntary actions from church members, charities and individual contributions.

Sue Pearson said;
"It is fantastic news that one of our first clients has now become debt free. They will now be able to face the future without all the stress and worry of debt hanging over them. Without debt and with the budgeting skills they will have learnt over the last few months, they can look forward to managing their money confidently and successfully."

If you are struggling with debt please phone 0800 328 0006 and CAP will be happy to help and support you.
