Festival: Airbus' commitment to the Festival of Manufacturing and Engineering
As a key contributor to manufacturing and engineering in the South West, Airbus is pleased to be joining Neil Carmichael MP in celebrating the South West as a UK leader in these important sectors, at the Festival of Manufacturing and Engineering.
Airbus in Filton, Bristol is the Centre of Excellence for wing technology, providing design and support of wings, landing gear integration and fuel systems for all Airbus aircraft. Airbus is underpinning aerospace in the South West, the region with the largest cluster of aerospace companies in the UK.

Airbus in the UK sources 40% of its total supplies in the South West. Overall, Airbus in the UK direct, indirect and induced employment is estimated to support about 37,000 jobs in the South West. Airbus is continually investing in the region and in 2012 will start work on the new multi million pound Airbus Aerospace Park at Filton.
Airbus also wants to celebrate the fact that it is supporting young people in the region. Airbus' award winning apprenticeship scheme gives students the opportunity to earn while they learn and combine college studies with practical training. Airbus in the UK has recruited over 850 apprentices in the last 5 years.
