Stratford Park unveils refurbished facilities
On Saturday, 21st January Neil Carmichael attended Stratford Park in Stroud in order to attend the reopening of the leisure centre alongside Cllr Debbie Young, Cllr Keith Pearson and Cllr Frances Roden after a refurbishment has taken place under new mangement.
The Conservative-led Stroud District Council put the contract to run Stratford Park into the public domain in order to attract a new contractor to run the site in 2011. On 1st November Stratford Park was transferred to Everyone Active who within six weeks had spent £750,000 on improving the facilities at the site including an upgrade of the reception area and changing rooms, with further investment still to come.
Neil says: 'This investment undertaken at Stratford Park represents a significant vote of confidence in the town and the local area, in businesses and suppliers, and in our health, fitness and wellbeing. I welcome Everyone Active taking over the leisure centre and look forward to ever greater services at Stratford Park for whom I wish every success in the future.'
In order to improve our fitness and wellbeing, Everyone Active proposes that all children and adults undertake in thirty minutes of physical activity five times every week, whether this be through recreation or playing sport, visiting the gym or undertaking in activities such as aerobics or yoga.
The leisure centre is to be dedicated to Karen Toole, who was once the strategic head of community services at Stroud District Council before sadly passing away in 2011.
