Stroud Water Textile Trust and the Festival of Manufacturing and Engineering

14 May 2012 at 11:25
On the 19th April Stroudwater Textile Trust opened the doors on 'Herberts Shop', Merrywalks Shopping Centre in Stroud to show the textile heritage of Stroud. As well as looms and examples of fabrics, the exhibition contained a display highlighting what has happened to the old mills and how they have gained a new lease of life. As part of the Festival of Manufacturing and Engineering The Trust put on several events details of which can be found at stroud-textile.org.uk. Neil visited the shop on the Friday morning and tried his hand at weaving under the expert guidance of Jane Ford.
Neil said ' The history is absolutely fascinating and there is an amazing range of cloth and equipment, this is a really fantastic exhibition and I thoroughly recommend it'
